TOM* Fashion Week in Review: The Runway Day 1
With the pre-parties behind us the lights of the runway shined bright as Toronto's most fashionable stepped into 444 College Park to kickstart Day 1 of runway shows for TOM* Fashion Week.
For my day 1 look I wanted to play with the idea of a preppy street look, so I pulled out the ombré and colour blocking to the forefront. The colour contrast backpack is from my summer trip to Istanbul where I snagged this bad boy at the Grand Bazaar, and keeping the bag company is also my furry friend from Ted Baker London. The pants are an all time favourite of mine from Zara because of their unique asymmetrical cut on the crotch, these pants add the perfect amount of put together street edge to any look. To compliment the shorter hem of these pants I went with a low-top dress shoe. The burgundy patent toe shoe was the perfect touch to compliment the burgundy ombré of my blazer. You can find both of these stylish pieces also at Ted Baker London.
To add to the colour contrast of the bag I styled my light blue turtleneck and wool hat both from Zara, to colour block the burgundy from my blazer and shoes. The colours also add a playful touch to any spring wardrobe. Especially with the weather that has been going on here in Toronto we're going to need that extra bit of warmth from our transition pieces.
The Runway in its calm before the first show of TOM* Fashion Week gets under way.
Day 1 was full of some spectacular pieces from suiting to chic street wear but the show that stole my heart not only for day 1 but for the entire week was from Hendrixroe. Their collection to me was utter perfection. The use of modern fabrics in order to showcase new cuts and shapes unfamiliar to menswear really set them apart from the rest of the shows. Also, you all know my style is all about the colour so a collection like this from Hendrixroe that utilized vibrant pops of colour definitely made me covet their collection for my upcoming F/W 16 wardrobe.
Another shot of the Hendrixroe show. I cannot get enough of this collection, from the clothes to the models themselves, Designers JEM and Rainbow absolutely killed the runway. With the way these two took the stage one wouldn't even know this was their FIRST EVER menswear line. Now the only question is when and where is their next stage and how do I get there !
Thats all from Day 1 at TOM*, but stay tuned because my review of Day 2 and 3 will be up on the blog tomorrow and Thursday !
