Blank Canvas

As the first month of the year comes to an end, the time to reflect on all the promises and resolutions made as the new year rang in is here. The idea for this shoot/look came to me when a friend of mine asked me "What do you ant to get out of this year?" and with her question on my mind I came to the conclusion that I really want to get the absolute best of what this year has to offer. Now it's true we never know the opportunities that will present themselves to us, so I took this year on with a clean slate, or blank canvas if you will. To me there was no better way to show a blank canvas through clothes than to leave all my coloured pieces in the closet and bring out my best of my white pieces to highlight the blank canvas that is 2016.

We can never forget about the accessories. To keep with the all white theme of this look, these white brogue detailed sneakers from Ted Baker London were an easy decision. Of all my Ted Baker shoes, they are easily the most comfortable and easy to break in. Other than the comfort, the brogue detailing makes them the perfect shoe to upscale your casual looks like I did today, or bring your formal wear to a more comfortable level. The tote is from the Holt Renfrew x Rag and Bone collection and is the PERFECT  dump all bag. Whether I'm carrying a full book load or just my laptop and camera it is always the easiest and quite frankly prettiest street-style appropriate choice of the day. To finish off the accessories for this look i kept my timepiece choice white and casual as well with this easy to wear watch from Timex.

To start the look I layered a crisp white shirt from Armani Exchange under my oversized chunky knit sweater from Club Monaco. A chunky knit is the perfect winter staple and if it comes in a classic colour like white or black it makes for the perfect weight to be the replacement for all your heavy wool blazers that make one feel like they are boiling from the inside out. Try layering your favourite shirt and tie combo under your chunky knit and swap that blazer for the extra comfort .

The trousers are also from Club Monaco but don't let the lightweight look fool you. Even as I sat in the winter snow for this shoot I was surprised at how warm these chinos that are intended for the warmer months of the year kept my legs. So if you are looking for a chino that incorporates both lightweight and warmth I'd recommend taking a trip to your local Club Monaco Mens Shop for the colour and fit thats right for you !

Now that you all know what I hope to get out of this year, I challenge all my readers to seize the opportunities that are presented to you, and make the absolute best of the year ahead. After all, nothing ventured nothing gained, right ?

Cheers,

The Debonair Dude
