Romance Ready

This Valentines day I paired up with fashionista and fellow style enthusiast Jennifer Wang to bring you guys the ins and outs on how to dress to impress that special someone in your lives.

Jen and I both decided before this shoot that there is nothing as classic as Navy and so our first look focuses on showing off the classic shade of blue and making it your own. The suit is from Zara Man, and with a 2-inch hem and some sleeve shortening, I turned this off-the-rack two piece into one that fits all my suiting needs. To parallel the formality of the suit, Jen paired her lace up heels with a navy gown so that I didn't get to have all the fun suiting up.

In my eyes there is nothing worse than a boring stiff tie, so gents, this Valentine's day leave the stripes and gingham at home and opt for a knit tie that will add the more playful (but still put together) accent to your look. Here I've paired my Club Monaco pink knit tie with my gold tie bar from Bows-n-Ties.com to keep my tie nice and secure as a take on the day with Jen. Now more than ever you can find the knit tie that fits your style the best from colours and patterns that are right for any gent looking to add some texture to their tie rack, and with that being said gents you can definitely find a colour to fit your valentines day pallet. For the shirt, I went with my favourite polka dot print from Forever21 Men  and paired it with a white silk pocket square. The solid pocket square was just the right compliment to the baby pink tie without taking away from the print of the shirt.

The second of our V-day looks traded in the navy for the colour of the season; red. Jen paired her open-toe embellished nude heels with her faux fur wrap to compliment each other highlighting her red lace dress as the showstopper of any date night look.

Here I styled my maroon suit from Ted Baker London with a red sweater from J Crew. The sweater adds the perfect pop of colour for the season while still complimenting the darker tones of red in the suit. In addition to the clothes, I chose to compliment this valentines red look with a red paisley pocket square also from  Bows-n-Ties.com. I also chose not to style a tie with this look, in order to highlight the brighter tones of red in the sweater and pocket square and not adding too many pops of colour. After all to much of one thing is never good, right? In order to keep the outfit red right to the toes, I laced up these patent cap toe's from  Ted Baker London. These shoes are one of my favourites. The soft bottom adds the comfort and support your foot needs while also adding a more casual touch to the shoe, making it prefect to wear with suits or great to dress down with a pair of jeans and a sweater.

Though this may be a holiday outfit post, remember Valentines day isn't all about the dinner and flowers; its about spending the day with your loved ones and special someone. Here's to a happy Valentine's day and good luck to all the debonair gents our there !

Cheers,

The Debonair Dude
